I owned a 9500ix before, but sold it to a friend because I needed extra cash. I recently purchased a Valentine One brand new from their website. Now after a few days of using it, I wish I had just purchased another 9500ix. I don't know where to even begin...First, the Valentine One is way to dim (both night & daytime). Second, I hate how it doesn't tell you what band is coming up (either by voice and/or actually seeing the band written across the detector). Seeing a simple small lit up dot and having to eyeball F#$^ what it says next to it really blows. There doesn't seem to be any way of muting the Valentine One other than turning the volume down via the volume knob. I also don't like how you can't filter any of the bands out (ie; X-band). The thing goes off just way to much...Valentine One's marketing add always mentions how the "other" detectors make you shrug your shoulders and ignore potential traps, but given how much the Valentine One goes off, you end up shrugging your shoulders and ignoring them anyway. There is simply NO substitute for the 9500ix's GPS feature and LED display that is easy to read. I guess the only plus I can see to the Valentine One are the arrows and dual antenna...
