Default Escort Passport 8500 vs 8500 x50 radar detector?

What are the major features and differences between the escort passport 8500 radar detector to the newer one the escort passport 8500 x50 radar detector?

I have used both of them and couldnt tell really THAT much of a difference especially with the higher priced tag 8500 x50 then the 8500 escort passport radar detector? How about internals of both radar detectors....whats the difference?

The "original" 8500 is only lacking POP mode detection which consists of a 67 millisecond burst of radar in the 33.8 ka bandwidth and it really isn't a big deal. The "original" 8500 I have is revision 15. I also have an X50 revision 3 (no longer available) and it is a steller performing unit. The "hot" revision to also have is revision 5 (no longer made). Both of these revisions supposedly are a little better on k band than the revsion 6 units. But, I guess the revision 6 units may be more sensitive on laser than those older units. I can't confirm this myself as I know my rev 3 and my friend's rev 5 are very sensitive on laser. Not to mention off axis k band detection is awesome w/ the X50. X and Ka band are good as well. My "original" 8500 does a great job on all bands that were tested. Two great units IMHO.

But the x-50 is 50 times more detection hence the name x-50 .

Actually, this statement is not accurate. Quoted from Escort..

"The Passport 8500 X50's new "V-Tuned" radar receiver provides extreme range on all radar; conventional and "instant-on" including POP mode, X-Band, and up to 50% more range on the all-important K and Ka bands than the original Passport 8500."

50% more range is not the same as 50 times more..just wanted to clear that up.
